Founded in 2005, JPF Sports Media has since gone on to work with many established Teams and Organisations. Read below to find out more about myself and what inspires me.
JPF Sports Media
My key interest is in Sports Videography. I enjoy following a wide range of sport, my favourite being American Football. My main inspiration comes from NFL Films, who produce Sports packages in unique ways giving it more meaning, coupled with great and unique action shots, something I aspire to produce when I am shooting and producing montages. I enjoy filming games on the sidelines, capturing close up shots of players, a trend emphasised by NFL Films allowing them to film games in a more unique way getting up close to the emotion and intensity of games with a variety of different angles and shots.
I am presently employed as the Videographer/Analyst for The British Army Rugby Union, Royal Engineers Corps Rugby Team, the most successful Army Rugby team in recent years, Reading RFC and have worked with several other sports organisations. I produce pre and post game video, either for promotional or Analytical purposes. All matches are recorded for the various Coaches to review and analyse in required game segment packages as well as producing highlight packages which are then uploaded onto You Tube and club websites.
From starting out with the Royal Engineers I have since started working for the Army Rugby Union filming for the Senior XV, 7s, and on occassion the Masters and Women. I have also worked with the Army Rugby League, Royal Artillery Rugby League and I am also in my Sixth year working with Reading Rugby Football Club as their Video Analyst - Filming games and clipping up short highlight packages for the coaches to review and uploading after games. I have now spent several years gaining first hand experience with filming sports including; Rugby, Tennis, Hockey, Football, Water Polo/Swimming, gaining experience editing together footage for both coaching analysis and also for promotional and motivational purposes.
I have worked with several great teams over the past few years and been fortunate to travel to some great places including visiting Hong Kong and film with the Samurai International team as they took part in the prestigious Hong Kong 10's Competition in March 2012 producing a Promotional Montage.
It has also been great to film on the sidelines at Twickenham and various Premiership Rugby grounds for the Army Senior and 7s teams and annually at the Army vs Navy match since 2010 - which now draws in record crowds of over 80,000.
A particular highlight was going on tour with the Royal Engineers to Boston, Massachusetts which was a fantastic experience - producing a Tour DVD for the team. I have since been on two other Tours with the Engineers Rugby Team to South Africa in 2013 and also New Zealand in 2016 - filming the matches and other Behind the Scenes moments producing a short film for the Team. It was another fantastic experience visiting both the North and South Islands, with beautiful scenery and great rugby.
Another personal highlight was travelling with the Army 7s team to Denver in 2012 filming the Inaugral Defence World Cup Competition, which the Army went on to win. I have also travelled to Portugal with the Army Senior team for their Inter Service Training Camp filming games against Portugal, Gloucester and most recently Nottingham.
In May 2014, I was involved with a Charity Climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania where I went along as the Team Videographer in what was an amazing and challenging experience. I successfully made it to the top - a height of 5,895 metres, the highest peak in Africa. I took footage of the climb to produce a short film which was distributed online to raise more awareness for Team Endeavour and its supported charities.
2017 was a great year working in depth with the Army Rugby Union as they regained the Inter Services title finishing their season beating the Royal Navy at Twickenham in front of 82,000 in the 100th Army vs Navy match. I worked closely with the Coaching team to provide video analysis and statistics throughout their season and training camp in Portugal. Following the successful campaign I travelled with a development Army team to New York for a two week Tour against local New York opposition and United States Combined Services at West Point Army Academy.
Educated to A level standard in Media studies, IT and Food Technology in Kent I then trained for a year at Farnborough college of Technology, earning a Certificate in Higher Education in Television and Radio production. I use Final Cut Pro X on my MacBook Pro to edit footage. Examples of my work can be found on my Portfolio page and Youtube Channel.
From something that started out as a hobby, sports videography has grown into a big passion for me. I enjoy capturing moments on the pitch and getting close to the action, looking for shots that stands out above the rest.
"Since 2010, Jonathan Fowke of JPF Sports Media has supported the Army Rugby Union 7s team in producing first class game analysis material and promotional media. A consummate professional that will go the extra mile to produce professional results that has been used by the major national media companies without you noticing him during training or playing. His passion and drive is clearly evident in every production he has produced and he is an excellent ambassador and gentlemen which sets him stand out from the crowd. A truly talented young man with a great future ahead of him. Without doubt, JPF Sports Media has assisted in the development of the teams' performance on the rugby field and I would unreservedly recommend him to any organisation to promote or develop a produce or skill."
